The Rockies are probably going to trade Carlos Gonzalez

It’s no secret that Carlos Gonzalez is (probably) on the trading block for the Colorado Rockies, and it’s less a matter of ‘if,’ and more a matter of ‘when.’ When may not come in January — it could come in July! — but the smart move for the Rockies is doing almost anything but letting CarGo play out the final two years of his contract here.

And yet CarGo’s deal hasn’t yet materialized, despite a lot of rumors that indicate there might be interest here, or there, or somewhere else. So, I wrote about it for Purple Row earlier this week. It was kind of an afterthought to post, but it did really well on the site, so that’s something!

Now, after the Rockies have signed Gerardo Parra — not for nothing, a long time best friend to Carlos Gonzalez — rumors are flying again that the Rockies are about to ship out an outfielder to get out of the logjam they currently see across their roster.

Again, we’ll go through the Carlos Gonzalez trade rumor song-and-dance, and see if something happens this time. Maybe it will! Maybe it won’t. Read this for more on why deals may not be getting done… yet. We’ll all see soon enough!
